Why I Run / Volunteer...

I want to be a part of Ellie's Run for Africa simply because I LOVE Africa. I have spent many months on the continent and feel like the people of Africa are my people, and i want to do what I can to help better their nation. My little impact can do a big thing.
Tara B. (Springfield ~ Age: 27)
I volunteer because a 10-year-old inspired me six years ago to help a country I had never thought about. And, because every person deserves dignity. Now I've been to Africa and have seen - first-hand - the impact we're making.
Kristen H. (Nashville ~ Age: 28)
I first volunteered three years ago because I was passionate about the cause and inspired by the dream of a young girl. I had the opportunity to visit Kibera last summer and saw the children and families that this organization helps. The overwhelming joy and hope I witnessed in the people of Kibera made an imprint on my heart that will last forever!
Rachel F. (Nashville ~ Age: 28)
I volunteer because raising as little as $25 can do so much to improve the life of a child in Kenya and I believe that the most important step to breaking the cycle of poverty in any country is through education.
Tricia W. (Nashville, TN ~ Age: 28)
I run because I used to weigh almost 200 pounds more than I do now. I am running this race because I will be in Nashville for the American Judges Association Conference. I am a Judge in Cleveland and I work in an urban court with a predominantly African American population. I am constantly learning about the challenges and stigmas that the people in front of me face daily. This includes the heritage they share. I have been blessed with a relatively easy life. I believe it is my responsibility to support those less fortunate whether they live in my neighborhood, state or anywhere else in the world. It is nice to be able to say this without people thinking that my motive is re-election or self agrandization. I am not running for office in Nashville, I just want to be a part of your endeavor.
Joe Z. (Cleveland, Oh ~ Age: 58)
I am a Board member for Bridging the Gap Africa (www.bridgingthegapafrica.org) - an organization that builds foot bridges to help children get to school over flooded and crocodile infested rivers in rural East Africa. Having visited and worked with the people of Kenya, I know how important education is to these children. We all have to work together to "bridge the gap"!
Kelley R. (Nashville, TN ~ Age: 38)
Helping with Ellie's Run is a small way of taking part of our global community and changing a child's life by providing education
Katie G. (Nashville ~ Age: 26)
I run so that children can have clean drinking water. I run so that child mothers can have support. I run so that education can be provided to those who would normally go without. More than all this though I run so that God's word can be shared and celebrated with those who need it most.
Libby M. (Nashville, TN ~ Age: 26)
