Current Projects

The New Dawn Education Center

Serving the Huruma and Githogoro slums of Nairobi, Kenya, the New Dawn Education Center provides a high school education for 160 students. Opening its doors in March 2009, this school is literally made out of modified shipping containers, stacked side-by-side and one on top of the other.  Not only is it the most beautiful building in the slum, but it is also the pride of the community.  Complete with classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab - and more students than it can handle - New Dawn needs support to grow and sustain the school including teaching staff salaries, books, school uniforms, one meal per day for students, medical care, lab, computer and other school supplies, teacher training, government examination fees, transportation, utilities, maintenance and repairs.

Past Projects

The Emmanuel Vocational School

In Kibera, more than 90 percent of young men do not have a job.  That's where the Emmanuel Vocational School comes in - to prepare Kibera youth to enter the work force by training them in 8 different skill areas: electrical, computer, carpentry, catering/cooking, car mechanics, welding, tailoring, and accounting/bookkeeping.  Opening its doors in the fall of 2009, the school has the capacity to train up to 180 Kibera youth. This will allow them to find jobs, support their families, and be productive members of society. The school will operate under the direction of the church through a school board. The school is intended to be self-sustaining.

Calvary Christian School

Serving approximately 400 children a year, the Calvary Christian School offers education and safety to Kibera children age preschool through 8th grade.
